Summer 2026 on the French Riviera: 5 Festivals Within 20 Minutes of Hôtel du Clos
There is a geography to summer on the French Riviera that maps rarely show: the geography of hinterland festivals, open-air concerts under the pines, fireworks watched from a hillside rather than a crowded pavement. From July to mid-August 2026, the territory stretching between Grasse, Vence, Cannes and the perched villages of the Alpes-Maritimes offers an unusually rich concentration of events — world music, chamber jazz, contemporary art, international pyrotechnics, jasmine blossom. And at the centre of this radius, less than twenty minutes from each one, Le Rouret.
This is where Hôtel du Clos is located — a Provençal bastide in a quiet village at the heart of the Pays de Grasse. A place to leave from in the evening, return to at night, and pick up your coffee in the garden the following morning. This guide covers the five major events of the summer not to be missed from this base.
Nuits du Sud in Vence — 9 to 18 July 2026
The Nuits du Sud festival takes place over the weekends of 9, 10, 11 and 16, 17, 18 July on the Place du Grand Jardin in Vence. Six evenings of open-air concerts in one of the most appealing settings in the Alpes-Maritimes — a village square surrounded by bars and restaurants, sheltered beneath plane trees.
The 2026 programme for this 29th edition blends established headliners with fresh discoveries: Luiza and Mariam open the festival on 9 July, Maya Kamaty and Kassav’ perform on the 10th, Bakermat and Breakbot & Irfane on the 11th. The weekend of 16 to 18 July promises equal variety, with Magic System and Ben l’Oncle Soul closing the bill. Tickets average €34 per evening, with presale options from €22.
Vence is 18 kilometres from Le Rouret — around twenty minutes along the hill roads. On concert evenings, parking on the outskirts of the village and walking to the Place du Grand Jardin is straightforward. The drive back involves none of the gridlock that plagues coastal festivals.
Cannes International Pyrotechnic Art Festival — 4 July to 24 August 2026
Six evenings, six nations, one sky. The Cannes Pyrotechnic Art Festival is one of the most visually striking events of the Mediterranean summer — and entry on the beaches of the bay remains free throughout.
The full 2026 calendar: Serbia on 4 July (10pm), Poland on 14 July (11pm, Bastille Night), China on 22 July (10pm), France — Aquarêve — on 4 August (10pm), Finland on 15 August (10pm), Czech Republic on 24 August (10pm, non-competition).
Cannes is 22 kilometres from Le Rouret. The advantage of staying in the hinterland rather than in the city becomes tangible on the night of 14 July: after 11pm, when the Croisette empties into a general traffic jam, the road back to Le Rouret is clear. Thirty minutes, and the silence of the hills.
Jazz aux Décades in Roquefort-les-Pins — 8 and 9 August 2026
This is the summer’s new arrival: a brand-new festival launching in Roquefort-les-Pins on 8 and 9 August — Jazz aux Décades. Two evenings, four concerts.
On Saturday 8 August at 8:30pm, the piano trio of Shai Maestro opens proceedings, followed at 10pm by trumpeter Ludovic Louis and his band. On Sunday 9 August at 8:30pm, Fred Nardin & Friends take the stage; Stefano Di Battista closes the festival at 10pm, with André Ceccarelli on drums.
Roquefort-les-Pins is 5 kilometres from Le Rouret — the closest event in this entire summer programme. Close enough, in fact, to consider cycling there if the mood takes you. The Jardin des Décades setting, in the middle of a pine forest, is the antithesis of the big coastal stages: intimacy, natural acoustics, an audience of genuine enthusiasts.

Ellsworth Kelly at Fondation Maeght — 27 June to 15 November 2026
The Fondation Maeght in Saint-Paul-de-Vence holds one of the finest collections of modern and contemporary art in Europe. That much is well established — but the 2026 summer exhibition puts it squarely back in focus. Aux bords de l’eau brings together works by Ellsworth Kelly in an intimate dialogue with Josep Lluís Sert’s building and the gardens where Miró and Giacometti left their sculptures.
The Ellsworth Kelly exhibition runs until 15 November, making it the only event in this programme that requires no precise planning: a Tuesday morning in September works just as well as a Saturday in July. Saint-Paul-de-Vence is 22 kilometres from Le Rouret.
Fête du Jasmin in Grasse — 7 to 10 August 2026
Grasse is the world capital of perfume. Every summer, the Fête du Jasmin transforms the town into a four-day floral carnival: processions, flower battles, street festivities throughout the centre. It is not an exclusive event — it is a popular celebration, open to all, that shows the town at its most spirited.
Grasse is 10 kilometres from Le Rouret, the shortest journey on this list. The weekend of 7 to 10 August also overlaps with the Cannes fireworks display on 4 August and both evenings of Jazz aux Décades — making this the most densely packed window of the summer for anyone based in the Pays de Grasse hinterland.
Why Le Rouret is the Best Base for This Summer ?
Five major events. Five different venues. Distances: 5 km, 10 km, 18 km, 22 km, 22 km. None more than half an hour by road. This geography, more than any other argument, makes Le Rouret a genuinely strategic position for the 2026 cultural summer on the French Riviera.
Staying at Hôtel du Clos means being able to alternate evenings out with peaceful mornings, without ever having to choose between the event and a good night’s sleep. The bastide has a garden, a pool, and a breakfast kitchen designed to set you up well — whether for a day of sightseeing or a slow recovery after a late concert.
Check availability and book directly at Hôtel du Clos for your summer stay. The week of 8 to 15 August — Jazz aux Décades, Fête du Jasmin and the Cannes fireworks on the 15th — is the most in-demand period of the season.
